MFFM  will be holding a free “Grow Your Own Organic Garden” class in Pittsfield on Weds., April 4th. The class will be from 6-9pm in the lower level of the Pittsfield Public Library (110 Library Street). Tom Roberts of Snakeroot Organic Farm will lead the class, which will cover basics such as garden location and plant selection, and will also venture into topics such as pest control and composting. The curriculum was developed by the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association, which will be hosting similar classes statewide on April 4th. (Find other locations at www.mofga.org/Events/GrowYourOwnOrganicGarden)

Tom Roberts has taught the class for years, and typically both novices and more advanced home gardeners find it useful, and a great way to kick off the gardening season. Bring a mug of coffee and your thorny questions for an evening of garden talk! The Maine Federation of Farmers’ Markets runs statewide programs that help sustain Maine farms, connect market farmers, strengthen farmers’ markets, and widen access to locally-grown food for all.

Call MFFM at 487-7114 for more information about the Grow Your Own Organic Gardening class, or to register.
